My Visit to Transpose
Hello I’m Dawn Monroe, 47 and have been dressing since the age of 14. Although I have only started visiting
makeover services since 2002 when at the age of 40 I made my first venture into the TV world.
Since then I have been to only three services – a shop based in Liverpool where I live called Angies, a well
known company in Manchester and now Trans-Pose. At Angies I only went for a few short months before the
shop closed. At the Manchester based services I went for six years with a break in between as I tried to
discover myself. I tried several looks whilst I was there but I always seemed to end up in short skirts with a
large bust or maybe that’s down to my interpretation. But towards the end of 2007, beginning of 2008 I
started to feel a little downhearted with my look, I started to become stale. Although my best friends (Joan &
Rachel) were very complimentary I felt something was missing.
Then in May I received my copy of Repartee and saw an article about a visit made by Bella Jay & Nina to a
dressing service but what drew me to it was a picture of Nina as Marilyn Monroe. What was more ironic is
that earlier that day Joan & I had discussed my taking on a surname for Dawn & had decided on Munroe. As
you probably know this article was about Trans-Pose and what made it extra special was the location,
Ellesmere Port , only a short train journey away.
I rang Teela-Jane a few days later to arrange a five star makeover with the sole intention of dressing like my
namesake. We arranged the visit for June 21 and I must admit to being a little nervous on the day but as
soon as I met Teela-Jane I felt at ease. She made me feel so relaxed as she explained what was going to
happen that day.
Since then I have made a visit to Trans-Pose every month as I see my vision of Dawn progress. Gone is the
short skirted, shy girl I was, to be replaced by a confident, sophisticated woman. In all the makeovers I have
received over the years I have never really had a specific look I just trusted the people to make me look
good. Now, since coming to see Teela-Jane, I look at my many photos and see a difference in every look.(All
for the better).
This new confidence has been endorsed by my friends who look at my pictures and say that I’m more relaxed
& look every inch the woman I want to be. This confidence has been given to me by Teela-Jane with her skills
at make-up & putting me at ease within myself. Now the real Dawn is let loose onto the real world and I have
Teela-Jane & Trans-Pose to thank for this.
